The Community Square Project includes the renovation of the Community Store, the Williams Ellis House, the Working Waterman’s Exhibit, and two other buildings that are currently occupied by Island Quest Gifts, the Fudge Shop, and Kitty Hawk Kites. The project will restore the Silver Lake's shoreline as a multi-functional gathering place for special events, concerts, and community gatherings.
Across Irving Garrish Highway, the Dixon Williams House will be renovated as a shared “community kitchen” and a small visitor’s center that will serve the local fisherman and the Ocracoke School.
